Antique Sad Iron Silvester's Patent Salter & Co No.5

You can hardly see the manufacturer's mark on this as it's rusted and pitted but it's a Salter & Co. No.5 antique sad iron with the Silvester's Patent handle which makes it a 1860-1880 antique as this was the period that they were advertising their patent handle that is so unique - tubular and hollow which was probably was a cooler design when you are handling a hot iron from a stove.
 
Trendy ideas for antique irons include using them as paperweights or doorstoppers!
 
This has not been cleaned, so comes with rust and crusts, as photos show!
