Antique Cast Iron with Rooster Latch (broken part)

Delightful antique iron with a rooster latch but unfortunately has a broken metal part under the wooden handle. Can be easily glued back as it's a clean break with no bits missing on the broken ends, but of course will not be as strong as before. Photos #4 and #5 show a close-up of the broken part.
Trendy ideas for antique irons include using them as paperweights or doorstoppers!
 
This iron has not been cleaned and so retains its original rusts and crusts!
